It’s amazing how young and boyish many members of the Armed are. After all, a boy can be just 17 when he joins, and most Marines are under 21. These boys are trained to be – and to resist pain. Joel McCeever looks like a boy, but he is a fighter. We bolt him to a wall in our “interrogation facility.” He is hooded and stripped down to his government-issued briefs and T-shirt. His Marine Corps says he is just days past his 18th birthday. Another young soldier, a corporal working not for the government but for our organization, will torture him, under the command of a senior interrogator. We think the boy might be a spy, but, to be honest, we don’t really care.
