In episode one, we saw some of those challenges on display through an awkward threesome. Desmond seemed oblivious to Otto’s exclusion from the threesome, and Otto, in turn, was not ready to open up about the experience.
But, we also get some good news: Desmond and Otto are engaged in couple’s counseling. Through the guidance of their counselor, they slow down to hear each other more clearly.
The counselor says:
I know it might feel like all of this stuff is about you two and what’s going on in this moment, but even if you decide to leave each other – it’s going to follow you. The deep fears that we face show themselves to us again and again until we face them. You can really help each other with that if you’re willing to be in the fires together.
And with that, a passionate and explosive fuck-fest ensues. Otto and Desmond wrestle with each other as a physical manifestation of their emotional struggles. It’s hot and fiery – but ends with more questions than answers.
