Like an expert furniture restorer stripping away layers of paint from a cabinet, Tough as Nails strips away some of the recent excesses of gay porn leaving nearly three hours of brilliantly photographed, hot, hard, hairy, hung men fucking each other senseless. There’s plenty of great cock-sucking, rimming, and even two solo sequences, but at its core Tough as Nails is a fuck flick – and one of the best in a long time.

It opens with French Hercules François Sagat sanding down a butcher’s block. This video may be set in a wood shop but those shoulders are definitely granite. He’s ripped, hairy and intriguingly tattooed with an inked skullcap. In comes the much leaner Rick Gonzales, and you assume he’s going to get fucked – the bigger guy usually tops the smaller. But then the pants come off, and while Sagat has nothing to be ashamed of, with a sturdy cock that curves upward, Gonzales is fucking huge.

Sagat does an admirable job getting half of that Latin monster down his throat, and Gonzales sucks him off in return before he lubes up Sagat’s hole and puts on his rubber. Periodically the camera switches to facial reaction shots and the look on Sagat’s face is unforgettable. Forget your chafed cock – your asshole will hurt from watching this scene.

After such a spectacular beginning, Taurus changes the pace with a scintillating solo scene. Michael Vincenzo is a luscious young man who you will eat alive with your eyes as he oils himself up, plays with his cock, fingers his ass and finally shoots all over himself.

The heat ratchets way up with a threeway that’s heaven for hairy-chest lovers. J.D. Kollin, Randy Manroot and Steve John are working over their stations, but they would rather work over each other. There’s much more emphasis on oral here, with John doing most of the sucking, then Manroot, and then Kollin who’s usually standing above them both, talking a blue streak the whole scene long. When the fucking does begin, again, the older, beefier guy is the bottom of the scene, in three fucking-sucking positions. At one point he reaches back and stretches his hole so wide it looks like he could take Huessein and Kollin and Gonzales simultaneously. If there had only been a fist around…

Sagat returns for another solo scene, and it gives the camera a better chance to show us this incredibly beautiful man. His body is near perfect, and his Gallic facial features and thick lips will send you over the edge. This man has no inhibitions. Sagat squats down wide to give the camera ample exposure to a very ample hole. A gay wag once praised the asshole as the “rose window” of the male body. This sight will have you singing “Hail Mary!”

For all the hot sex that’s come so far in Tough as Nails, everything has built up to the final scene with Manuel Torres and Taurus, directing himself. If it doesn’t get a Best Sex Scene nod, get out the lawyers! Taurus plays the shop’s Human Resources director who finds Torres sleeping. Torres needs to keep his job, so he lets the boss blow him. Hey, its happened before, but then Torres starts rimming the boss, that’s taking things a bit far for job security.

But why let the boss fuck you when you can fuck the boss? And so begins what can only be described as an anal event of near epic proportions. It lasts through seven different positions and multiple camera angles, including some even I’ve never seen before. No matter what Torres gives Taurus, he takes more. Several times Taurus the director pulls the camera back to show their faces, and it’s clear they’re enjoying themselves and each other, smiling and kissing as they’re furiously fucking. Both cum at the end but by that time it’s almost anti-climactic. You’ll have shot your wad long ago.

Tough as Nails ends with a strong safe sex message from Taurus himself (more props) and DVD extras are limited to hardcore previews of Manifesto, Pokin’ in the Boys Room and Party in the Rear. There are a few sound synch problems here and there, as guys say “fuck me” without their lips moving, but you’re not buying Tough as Nails for that stuff. You’re buying it for the sizzling performances by a cast of hot, masculine men, the incredibly shot, up-close videography by Ben Leon and the stunning direction by rookie Taurus Dean, who clearly has a new career ahead of him.
